Coding & DebuggingIn line 'time now', we use the
nowsystem function. While coding Tyl, it is useful to open Tyl web documentaion, and browse to the appropriate reference page. So to see the
nowsystem function, open System Functions Reference. All system functions are ordered alphabetically, including
nowis a system function that returns a record. So in line '
timeis a record that holds current time information, which is detailed in the documentation.
Tyl has the ability to write debug data while Tyl program is running. This is done by using the debugging module.
replace line 'time now', with '@ time now', and run
a debug file 'tylrundebug.log' was created
in VS menu, click 'Project' and select 'Show All files'
file 'tylrundebug.log' is seen in the list
rightclick on it and select 'Include In Project'
open 'tylrundebug.log' in VS and locate it at the bottom,
You can see in TylLauncher the text that was printed during program run, and in the debug file, you can see the text that was printed to it:
In Tyl, if you add the debug statement symbol '@ ' (including the space character), in the start of a line of code, it causes the system to print to debug file the result of the statement.
